Trip budget
Breathedge 2 oxygen first-outing budget
How to spend the first outings: repair and use the Public Oxygen Station before you burn Oxyworms on Purified Oxygen next to a free refill, and leave with one portable refill in reserve.

What this page owns
Official store copy says you have to keep breathing in open space, and that the spacesuit can be upgraded. That is the systems fact: oxygen, with temperature and suit gear, is the trip limit. The oxygen and survival systems guide owns that overview. The first-hour checklist owns the broad opening loop. This page owns the first-outing order of operations: which refill you use first, and what you keep in reserve.
Food, water, and fatigue after Hotfix 0.8.6 are a different budget. Open that page when hunger or sleep is the meter that ends the trip. This site does not sell the game.

Repair the station before you spend Oxyworms
Community: once the Public Oxygen Station can be repaired and used, it is the free refill for early outings. Read the material list on the repair prompt in the current build. This page does not publish a parts list, because no official note lists those quantities. Some community write-ups also say the station wants Ice after the repair. That cost is unverified here — read the station prompt.
Use the station and fill up there. Do not burn Oxyworms crafting or using Purified Oxygen while you are standing next to that free refill. A portable consumable is for the part of the route where the station is no longer the air source.
Community crafting notes say finding an Oxyworm unlocks Purified Oxygen, a carried refill. Those notes do not agree on how much air the item restores, so any printed restore number is unverified. Open the crafting screen and the item tooltip before you spend worms, Metal, or Ice. Ingredient counts stay off this page for the same reason. Whether to hold Ice back for that craft, instead of bottling the whole stack, is the Ice priorities page.
- VGTimes crafting notes: Purified Oxygen — Community · Oxyworm unlock. Restore amount not used; other write-ups disagree
- Steam store: Breathedge 2 — Official · breathing is part of the survival loop
- Ice uses and priorities — Reserve a stack for air before bottling the pile
How do you budget the first oxygen outing?
Plan one outing as three legs: station, then one destination, then the return. Keep one portable refill unused until you are past the free station. The budget is that order and that reserve count. It is not a seconds-per-bar table.
- Start at a working Public Oxygen Station, or at the train oxygen machine until that station is repaired, and leave with the HUD full
- Choose one destination. Do not chain several distant markers on the first outing
- Carry one Purified Oxygen once you can craft it, and do not use it at the station
- Turn back while you can still reach the station without spending that reserve
- Use the reserve only after you are past the free refill: at the destination, or to cover a mistake on the return
- On return, name the constraint that ended the trip before you extend the next route
One portable refill, kept in reserve
The reserve is a habit, not a damage number. One carried refill is enough for the first outings. Making a stack of Purified Oxygen beside a working station spends Oxyworms, and whatever else the live recipe asks for, to replace air the station can give you.
Oxyworm Nests are a later community-reported midpoint on some longer routes. This page does not publish nest coordinates. If you can already see a nest on the HUD, treat it like a station: refill there, and still keep the portable item for the leg that has no free air.
Temperature, food, water, and inventory can end the same outing. If air was not the blocker, the oxygen reserve will not fix it.

- Exploration and movement — Range before personal transport
Numbers this page will not print
No official Steam news post through 0.8.10 (2026-09-23 CST) publishes an oxygen drain timer, a suit capacity, or a Purified Oxygen restore value. As of the 2026-09-25 check, that 0.8.10 post is still the latest official news for Steam app 2412960. The labelled hotfix snapshot on the community discussion watch records food and fatigue changes, Chapter 1 fixes, Suit VO, and Deck UI work. It does not record an oxygen-second change.
Demo oxygen threads are historical. The developer said the demo changed substantially. Do not copy a 2025 timer into this build.
If a later official note or a checked current-build reading adds a number, this page will date it and label the source. Until then, the HUD and the item tooltip are the numbers.

How this guide is maintained
Recheck this page when a hotfix changes oxygen, station repair, or the Purified Oxygen tooltip. The outing order stays: station, destination, return, one portable refill reserved.
How this guide is maintained
Breathedge 2 Guide treats official store and developer pages as the primary source of truth. Current-build community evidence can answer gaps the developers have not documented, but it is clearly labelled, attributed, and checked against conflicting reports.
Exact routes, recipes, timers, and balance values are dated when verified. If a detail is still uncertain, the guide says so instead of filling the gap with a guess.
